Papaya is regarded as a wholesome fruit. The daily requirements of some of the essential nutrients like proteins, mineral and vitamins can be met from this fruit.
Papayas offer not only the luscious taste and sunlit color of the tropics, but are rich sources of antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids; the B vitamins, folate and pantothenic acid; and the minerals, potassium and magnesium; and fiber.
Add one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of papaya leaves paste. Take this regularly for one-two week. It is very effective home remedy for jaundice.
Papaya and guava are also useful in treating constipation. Regular intake of papaya at early morning in an empty stomach prevents constipation.
Other fruits specific for constipation are papaya. Half a medium-sized papaya should be eaten at breakfast for it to act as a laxative.
Papayas are rich in very powerful antioxidants vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin A and vitamin D.
Papaya is also good to reduce menstrual pain and discomfort among unmarried girls. It regulates the contractions of uterus and the menstrual flow.
Taking papaya daily in the afternoon is beneficial in bleeding piles. The papaya should be fully ripe. Raw papaya should be eaten as a cooked vegetable.Â
